Burkina Faso
Two fish species
appear to be known only from Burkina Faso: an African tetra Brycinus luteus (p.

3 MB pdf file) and a catfish Synodontis
voltae (PlanetCatfish).
Among new insects discovered recently are a skin beetle Thorictus martinezi (Calodema
pdf file), a wasp Xylaphora provancheri (p. 14 of EJE pdf file), a darkling beetle Scleropatrum gustafssoni (p. 9 of Entomofauna pdf file), a ground beetle Chlaenius pseudocupreolus (Carabidae of the World), a rove beetle Acylophorus salifi (Zootaxa pdf file), and from W National Park: a hawkmoth Platysphinx bouyeri,
a silkmoth Holocerina
wensis and a longhorned beetle Lygrus holoniger (all at Dr. Bouyer
Jérémy). Arachnids unique to
Burkina Faso include the ground spiders Synaphosus yatenga
(p. 16 of AMNH
