Mayotte
Birds
found
exclusively in Mayotte include the Mayotte Drongo (ARKive), the Mayotte Sunbird (ONCFS),
the Chestnut-sided White-eye (IBC), and the Mayotte Scops Owl (BirdQuest). Two undescribed species of frogs in the genera Mantidactylus and Boophis are also
known (both at fig. 5 at ZooKeys) which appear to be sister species to the
Madagascan Boophis tephraeomystax (wildherps.com)
and Mantidactylus
(or Gephyromantis)
granulatus (AmphibiaWeb).
Reptiles unique to Mayotte include the Island Day Gecko Phelsuma
nigristriata (Phelsumania),
Robert Mertens' Day Gecko Phelsuma
robertmertensi
(Wikipedia),
and Peters' Bright Snake Liophidium
mayottensis (fig. 5h at ZooKeys). Pasteur’s Day Gecko Phelsuma pasteuri (Phelsumania)
is sometimes considered a full species distinct from the more
widespread Phelsuma
v-nigra.
